Editorial Policy

Content History is committed to publishing accurate, sensitive, and research-backed content. This page explains how we create, verify, and maintain every piece of content on our site.

Last updated: March 13, 2026

01

Our Standards

Every article published on Content History must meet three core standards before it goes live:

  • Accuracy - all claims are grounded in peer-reviewed research or data from named, reputable institutions.
  • Sensitivity - topics around relationships, intimacy, and trust are treated with care. We avoid sensationalism and respect the emotional weight these subjects carry.
  • Evidence - we do not publish opinion as fact. If the research is inconclusive, we say so.

02

Research Methodology

Our editorial team draws from primary, peer-reviewed sources whenever possible. We prioritize data and findings from established, named institutions including:

  • The Kinsey Institute at Indiana University
  • Pew Research Center
  • American Psychological Association (APA)
  • The Gottman Institute
  • The Journal of Sex Research

Secondary sources - news reports, surveys, and expert commentary - are used only when primary data is unavailable and are clearly labeled as such.

03

Fact-Checking Process

Before any article is published, it goes through a multi-step verification process:

  1. 1Every statistical claim or factual assertion must be traceable to a named source with a publication date.
  2. 2A second editor reviews all sources independently before publication.
  3. 3We conduct regular content audits to ensure published material remains accurate as new research emerges.

If a source is retracted, updated, or contradicted by newer research, we revise the article promptly and note the change.

04

Content Update Schedule

All published posts and guides are reviewed and updated on a rolling 90-day cycle. During each review we:

  • Verify that all cited studies and statistics are still current.
  • Incorporate relevant new research that has been published since the last review.
  • Update the “Last reviewed” date at the top of the article so readers know exactly when it was last checked.

05

Medical & Legal Disclaimers

Content History publishes educational and informational content only. Nothing on this site should be interpreted as:

  • Medical or mental-health advice
  • Legal counsel or legal opinion
  • A substitute for licensed therapy or professional counseling

If you or someone you know is struggling with relationship distress, compulsive behavior, or mental-health concerns, please consult a qualified professional. In a crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

06

Writer Credentials

Every article on Content History includes a byline linking to the author's profile page. Author pages list relevant qualifications, areas of expertise, and previously published work so readers can evaluate the credibility of each piece.

Our contributors include licensed therapists, certified relationship coaches, and researchers with graduate-level training in psychology or related fields.

07

Corrections Policy

We take errors seriously. When a factual mistake is identified in any published content, we follow this process:

  1. 1The incorrect claim is corrected or removed within 48 hours of being confirmed.
  2. 2A visible correction note is appended to the article explaining what changed and why.
  3. 3The “Last reviewed” date is updated to reflect the correction.

Found an error? Please reach out at support@contenthistory.com with the article URL and a description of the issue. We review every report.

08

Content History uses AI-powered tools as part of our research and drafting workflow. Specifically:

  • AI tools may be used for literature review, data summarization, and initial draft generation.
  • All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by a human editor before publication.
  • AI is never the sole author of any published article. Final editorial judgment, tone, and accuracy checks rest with our human team.
  • We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, statistics, or expert opinions.
